Please Take a Look-seeHis eyes were wide, nearly bugging out of his head, his heartbeat sickeningly alive with fear, his skin crawling with the intensity of his pulse and his mouth dry and motionless. Seconds were passing slowly, far too slowly, and he wanted to scream, but he couldn’t make the sound claw up out of his throat, and he was rooted to the spot with agony. He knew what was coming, but he didn’t know what was coming. It was sweet and surreal, and his breath came short, when it came at all. He felt the smallest trail of cold sweat cascade down his spine. Journal Entry 27“Hey, what do you think you’re doing?” The boy glared at me, completely infuriated, but I didn’t back down, holding the newly empty bucket of water in my slightly trembling hands. Exhilaration had long left them, giving them their awkward, ceaseless shivers, since I had been standing here for hours, with the boy staring at me for eternity, on the cusp of a question while I held the bucket just two pounds too heavy for comfort.
